Engineering Design

Ocean-Tec have a track record in providing our clients with Engineering design support.

Our application of the PRISM process ensures that all stakeholders have the oppertunity to provide input into the design process, and assist inthecreationofthesepcification.

For example when designing a launch platform for an ROV onboard a vessel of oppertunity, there may be input from the End Client, Contractor, Vessel Owner, Vessel Class certification body, ROV Contractor etc.  The management of these interfaces are the key to successful design works, as they allow the designer to get it right first time.

Only once the requirements are clearly defined can the real design work commence, thus avoiding an infinite loop of corrections and modifications (and aresulting costs/delays).

Using the latest 3D CAD design packages Ocean-Tec engineers can quickly complete concept design work for comment, followed up by detailed design analysis including FEM Modelling to prove the strength and integrity of the design for various scenarios.

We believe in providing detailed information to our Clients, in the form of an entire design package, including supporting calculation reports, lifting reports, and construction drawings.  This package it then ready for submission to Clients engineers/certifying authority for internal/external approvals.

Ocean-Tec also provide a liaison service to walk their designs through the certification process of DNV GL/Lloyds on behalf of the client, more information on this can be found here.
